Stuart Bass, A.C.E., has been making television for over 30 years. He has focused on series comedies, including The Wonder YearsParker Lewis Can’t LoseScrubsThe OfficeArrested Development Pushing Daisies and A Series of Unfortunate Events. He has enjoyed directing on two series, Don't Trust the B**** in Apartment 23 and Melissa and Joey. He directed and edited the main title for A Series of Unfortunate Events. He has directed second unit and inserts for many television shows, including Macgyver, The Wonder Years, Pushing Daisies and Mockingbird Lane.  

Bass began his career shooting rock videos for MTV during the company’s early years,  At this time he was part of the growing comedy improvisation scene involved in teaching workshops and performance, and later moved into directing and editing hundreds of spots for San Francisco’s largest commercial production company.

Bass has retired from editing and now is pursuing his passion for photography. He started taking photos at a very young age; Learning dark room technique in 7th grade; Shooting for the yearbook and newspaper in high school; And always having a camera at arm’s reach for most of his life. Once attracted to the abstract and the avant-garde, with age he has settled into shooting figurative, romantic, and painterly photographs.

Bass has served as a governor for the Picture Editors Peer group of the Television Academy for four terms.

In addition, Bass has been nominated for five Primetime Emmy Awards, two ACE Awards and a 2006 ACE Eddy Award for his work on Arrested Development. He won a 2008 Primetime Emmy Award for his work on Pushing Daises.
